Article marketing is where you submit an article to bunches of places and allow everyone to use the article so you get a link and some traffic from those articles.

If you have a site like 45n5.com or a site you care bunches about then article marketing is rather pointless.

However if you have a small site you just made about some offbeat affiliate program you just joined that nobody seems to be using and you just wanted to get a quick site indexed, then you might use article marketing to get a few links and some initial traffic.

So after you decide to do article marketing for your new site you realize that there are hundreds and probably thousand of directories to submit your article to. That will take WAY to long.

Never fear, many people have created software to automate the process. It’s called Article Submission Software.

My First Days Using Article Submission Software

I downloaded an article submitter software. Submitsuite.com seemed fairly priced and offered a free trial.

After downloading I had to create an account with over 300 article directories. The software did it all for me ;) Cool. But then:

I had to reply to the acceptance email in my inbox where there were over 300 replies I needed to make. Yuck

After that was out of the way I submitted my article. The process is kinda clunky but sure enough the software opens each directory in another window and submits your article.

The submission process took about an hour of letting the thing run and just having to kick it everynow and then if a directory wasn’t responding.

The results - 1 week later

FOUR FLIPPIN LINKS - That’s right, google is showing four article directories that have my article approved and indexed.

Of course I’m only judging based on the actual indexed pages in google with a link back to me and some may have accepted my article but google hasn’t indexed them yet. But that’s the point.

I’m hoping in the next week the I start to see some more pages indexed.

4 out of 300 is rather pathetic.

But it is 4 links pointing back to me that google has indexed with a few minutes work (after the initial signing up for everything).

You might decide it’s easier to buy a few links, but this is one way to do things if you are looking for free.

Better Than Bookmarking

Bookmarking your site in the social bookmarking sites is kinda goofy but I do it sometimes and many people recommend it.

The only thing bookmarking is good for is some traffic, hopefully. Almost all the links are nofollow.

If I were to spend my time bookmarking or article marketing I think, even with the lame results so far, I’d pick article marketing, but of course you can do both.

Your Experience?

These article submitter softwares are popular so does anybody have any tips on using them or similar or different experiences than I’m having? Will it be a big difference when I check the results in a month?
