I mentioned in a previous video that I had a website that gets good steady traffic but doesn’t earn me much money.
So trying to exercise my prom queen mentality I decided to find and contact an affiliate manager in the niche and see what they would do with the site, of course instead of sitting back and just saying “boy, I’m not making much money here”.
I was pleasantly surprised the next day when I got some great feedback, starting with this comment:
I am really glad that you asked that question, many of our affiliates do not
use our knowledge to help them promote the products.
Probably because they are all waiting for success to find them, instead of going after it! (I know, I’m learning too ;-)
And if there is anybody that can tell you what works for their program, it would be the affiliate manager. They can see who earns the most money, and I presume, exactly what they are doing to earn it.
Their advice was interesting, and probably unique to their product. They said their stock banners and links work miserably and that endorsements worked the best. Also if I didn’t want to endorse something that pages with original copy about the product worked well.
Here’s another benefit of contacting the Affiliate manager, they offered to write content for me! No kidding.
They mentioned they would create a rough draft of a page specifically for my site that I could approve and publish or modify. And if I needed any other content related to their product they could provide whatever I needed.
The site I was inquiring about had decent traffic so that may be the reason for the great response, however even if I had never heard back, I would of at least learned one person who I shouldn’t write.
I will definitely be writing affiliate managers more in the future.
