If you want to be able to collect email addresses on your website or landing pages there are many free and paid options however I’d like to point out one that has been treating me well lately called Pommo.

It does what it needs to do, manage and send email, it’s intuitive, easy to use and figure out and that’s it ;) Perfect.

Pommo allows you to create a form to collect an email address from a website visitor and also add custom fields to collect additional information.

They then give you a piece of code to paste on your web page to collect the email address.

The admin then lets you view the list of your email subscribers, send them bulk emails, and of course manage settings like how often your server should send emails.

Why Free Email Software?

Duh, cause it’s free ;) The major drawback of freebies is supposedly deliverability but unless you are delivering an email list for google or amazon.com that shouldn’t be an issue for you.

I’ve use free email solutions for a number of sites and haven’t had any problems yet.

I won’t go into all the details here though, Ian wrote up a good post breaking down the differences: Auto Responders: Free vs Paid Service

Pommo Ain’t No Autoresponder

Ian’s article was almost perfect except a drawback of Pommo for traditional marketers that is Pommo is not an autoresponder, it’s a bulk emailer.

In other words, it will let you collect email addresses and easily send email to your entire list however it won’t let you set up a pre planned succesion of emails to new signups.

Just what I needed

I’m not a fan of auto responders, I have a need occasionally to collect email addresses, like with MashupMoney.com, and Pommo does it effortlessly ;) Thumbs up Pommo Peeps.
