45n5 has always been branded as a “make money online” blog.
From the beginning I realized there was a bit of a sour taste in people’s mouths when it came to “making money online” but I thought they could see I wasn’t the guy that sold them the 199$ ebook with promises of getting rich.
Most times I was correct and people realized I didn’t promise them any wealth, I’ve even made it bluntly clear I don’t think 99.7% of you will make money online, seriously, however moving forward I think I want to upgrade the brand.
It’s not that I don’t think I could win the battle of showing some “make money online” blogs aren’t stealing from people. Really, I just don’t have the spirit to fight that fight and I’m more interested in:
Marketing Is Everything
Ideas are a dime a dozen. Programming is easy. If ideas or programming skills were worth much I’d be a rich man, I’m not.
However, with good marketing skills, you can sell a painted rock to millions of people, spread religion around the world (”honk if you love jesus”), get politicians elected, and make gazillions of dollars at the same time.
Marketing is where it is at. Ideas are dead without it.
Programming, design, are only details for a good marketer. Yet I’m not a very good marketer, but would love to learn more.
The point is, for me, I think I’d like to rebrand this blog as something like “internet marketing daily” or similar.
Not only would it be more in the spirit of where I’d like to move my focus, but also to move away from some of the nonsense that is associated with “make money online” like buy this $99 infoproduct so you will read it and it tells you to go sell your own info product.
but first-
What do you think
What do you think the tagline or “brand” at 45n5.com should be? Of course you could take a minute to decide what your brand is going to be. But do it after you leave a comment here ;)
Also, do you think “internet marketing” is a far enough shift away from “make money online”?
What do you think the branding should portray at 45n5.com?
