Mindy from InfoProfitSavvy was one of the people who commented on my $600 business plan yesterday and she and others wondered “the plugins thing I don’t get at all” or why do I recommend people not add new plugins or change their layout?
Well, I went and visited Mindy’s blog (and subscribed btw) and looking at her first post has all the answers. Hopefully Mindy doesn’t mind me quoting her:
Sometime I find myself COMPLETELY derailed in my information marketing efforts by having to deal with the technology side of blog marketing via wordpress.
So the servers went down? Can’t figure out how to backup a database maybe? Not quite:
I am supposed to be searching for seven niche ideas….What am I really doing?….I am wrestling with (and losing!) blasted css code and plugin codes trying to get my “MyBlogLog” widget look right on my front page….TWO HOURS!
Any questions? I should have probably also added the rule you can only check your stats once per day.
Changing layouts and fooling with plugins takes enormous amounts of time, from searching for the right ones to use to installing them. Not every time, but many times. Instead we could be making content that makes money.
Changing layouts and fooling with plugins I would consider “play time” and certainly isn’t a priority for us. It’s kinda like that person that spends more time shopping for exercise equipment and sport clothing in a year than they do actually exercising.
The business plan did allow for time to pick a layout and choose your plugins, before your first post, it simply means you have to work with what you got until you hit your first $600 in one month, then you get to play again.
Thanks for the question Mindy, everybody go subscribe to Info Savvy now.
(ps, I’m just as guilty as the next person of playing too much, but I try not to)
