There is nothing that interrupts my attention more than going to my PO Box and getting a piece of mail for a website. It could be some random domain offer or a pamphlet for a conference, however I’m almost certain to look at it.

In addition, there is a world that exists beyond the digital one. I know, I’m learning it to, but it is really there, and people still function in it.

I received a piece of mail from Israel today (which I’ll chronicle in a video post later) and it for sure got my attention. You can find my PO BOX info on my about page (which sorely needs upkeep).

Disclaimer: I don’t recommend posting your personal physical address on the internet, rather get a paid physical mailbox.

From The Readers Perspective

Likewise, as a reader or fellow blogger, if you are looking to get the larger fish in your pond to notice you, why not send them a piece of real mail? Think they’ll notice you then? It could be a thank you note, a gift from your local area, or any other creative to send via real mail.

I think somewhere in history they called this “direct marketing” or something.

In Conclusion

Getting and receiving snail mail via (some of) my web properties is new to me. Experimenting with sending other bloggers snail mail is new to me. I’m also finding it’s difficult to even get a bloggers snail mail address (problogger’s about page shows nothing and his whois shows somebody else’s physical address).

However, I think if you are an established presence on the internet you should have a way to contact you via snail mail, people are lOOking for it!
