Are you trying to make a business out of your online adventures? If so, then what is your business model? In other words, what is the structure in which you will get paid and earn that pay?
Some Example Business Models
The Seo Business Model (aka the win the lottery model)
- Google will send you enough traffic to pay your bills. It will start slow and after you get enough google friendly content you will have it made in the shade.
This was a good part of my business model until this year. I would NOT rely on this business model to feed yourself or your family. Just one example of many why this is a bad idea plus you fear for your financial life every google update.
The most popular model and one of the worst.
The Sell Digital Stuff Business Model
You will write an ebook and sell it. This might be fun to earn $10,000 if you are one of the very few lucky ones but this is not a business model, rather a way to make some quick cash. Unless you are an seobook of course.
You will constantly be required to crank out new products and make them successful to live.
The Get Real Popular And Money Will Fall From The Sky Business Model (aka the “fairy tale” business model)
Just a “hunch” I get that many people think their blogs will magically get popular “eventually” and they won’t have to worry about marketing their stuff or putting in long hours and the passive income will be effortless at some point.
Keep dreaming ;)
The Whatever Works Business Model
A little seo here, a few ebook sales there, a few affiliate sale over there, some consulting work yesterday, etc eventually ads up to an income you can survive on.
I’m in this category also. This model is fun because you get to try different things as you learn but is very lame for having an sort of focus or security at what you do.
The Subscription Business Model
You build a great product or service and charge monthly for it.
This model doesn’t rely on any third party to send your paycheck and solves problems or makes peoples lives better.
I’m most moving towards this model with GroupPlatform and NoFollowAds. Both are also free until people reach a certain level of success.
The Problogger For Somebody Else Business Model
You take paid gigs on other people’s blogs. Cool cuase you can sit in your underwear and work however when the paid jobs stop so does you underwear time.
The Paid Search Business Model
Buy traffic from search engines for less then you earn on commissions from your affiliate landing pages.
Expensive to learn.
What Is Your Business Model?
I’m sure I missed many of the business models out there so tell us all what is your business model?
Are you just “hoping” to figure it out someday or do you have even the slightest plan or structure to make your financial goals happen?
