My average adsense earnings for the past 7 days are in the double digits for each day ($12.15 per day, fingers crossed it lasts).
I haven’t added an ounce of new content to the net in that time, and traffic has been flat, I’ve simply been playing with layouts and colors.
Why weren’t my stats always like that? Well, because I never knew anything was wrong with my adsense stats. I’d never established a baseline to benchmark against.
If I had a CTR of 3% but made a dollar, I said great! I made a dollar, but didn’t pay too much attention to how much I should have made.
Moving forward I’m reluctant to start typing again because I’m not sure each of my sites are up to par yet in the ad layout department.
So before I blindly start adding content to the net again, I want to set those baselines, or acceptable levels for my ad stats, and work to get all my sites there first.
The only issue is where to set them.
Every situation is unique, but I’m thinking along the lines of my weekly averages for a site should at least be:
Click through Rate > 10%
Earnings per Click > .20
For starters anyway, anything less is unacceptable.
Should I be setting a baseline for any other variable? Where do you have you’re baselines set?
